Brian Lara In Tears In Commentary Box After West Indies Beat Australia To Script History- WATCH

Brian Lara was in tears after West Indies beat Australia by 8 runs at the Gabba in Brisbane to taste their first Test win on Australian soil in 27 years.

West Indies registered a Test match win in Australia for the first time in 27 years. While the Men in the Caribbean islands were not given a chance by cricketing experts when they arrived on Australian shores and it was being assumed that it would be a walk in the park for the hosts who had just clean swept Pakistan 3-0 in a three-match Test series. However, West Indies beat Australia in Australia that too at their fortress -the Gabba in Brisbane to square off the series 1-1.

West Indian legend Brian Lara who was in the commentary box to witness the historic moment was in tears when the last Australian batter departed, handing the visitors an 8-run win. Lara went on to call the win a "big day in the history of West Indies cricket".

"Unbelievable. 27 years to beat Australia in Australia. Young inexperienced, written off! This West Indies team can stand tall today. West Indies cricket can stand tall today. Today is a big day in West Indies cricket. Congratulations, Congratulations to every single member of that West Indies team," Brian Lara was seen saying in the video shared by commentator Mark Howard which has gone viral on social media.

Shamar Joseph The Wrecker-In-Chief For West Indies

Shamar Joseph was at the centre of this monumental achievement for West Indies. The speedster, who did not bowl on Day 3 due to a suspected toe fracture, was cleared on Day 4 and produced a 7-wicket haul that helped his team script history. The 24-year-old eventually finished with figures of 7/68 in 11.5 overs as Australia were dismissed for 207, needing 216 to win. The result meant Steven Smith's unbeatean 91 went in vain as he ran out of partners and had to see his side succumb to a defeat.
