'Board Has To Take The Stand There': Ravi Shastri Comes Up With A Suggestion For Indian Team Ahead Of World Cup

The only cause of concern for Team India is workload management as a lot of players have been ruled out from the action because of an injury.

This year is going too very hectic for the Indian cricket team as they will be taking part in the WTC final, followed by Asia Cup and ODI World Cup on home soil. The only cause of concern for Team India is workload management as a lot of players have been ruled out from the action because of an injury.

Players like Jasprit Bumrah, and Shreyas Iyer are some of the few names who have been struggling with their injuries for quite some time now.

Since Iyer is injured, the Indian team management have to finalize a replacement for him to take part in the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023. While the Mumbai-based batter was trusted with the number 4 position, an injury to him has forced the team to go to Suryakumar Yadav who hasn't quite grabbed his chances, getting out for three back-to-back golden ducks in the first three ODIs against Australia.

"I find it hard to imagine (increase in injuries). You look at era we played in, the facilities that were available at that time. You found players playing 8-10 years easily. A lot of them would play 8-10 months of the year. I really don't know. probably the volume of cricket has increased, no questions about that. There are different leagues around the world. The rest period is decreasing," Shastri told Sports Yaari.

"The establishment and players will have to sit across the table. You need that much cricket and you need to give certain break. Even if it happens to be IPL. Board has to take the stand there, tell the franchises, 'listen, we need them. India need them. For India's sake, if he doesn't play those games, it will be good," he added.

Earlier, after losing the series against Australia, India captain Rohit emphasized on players take a rest ahead of the hectic fixtures.
