Barmy Army Mocks Virat Kohli As Moeen Ali Comes Into Bowl In Ashes 2023

Barmy Army used Kohli's dismissal against Moeen in a tweet to mark the spinner's return to Test match cricket.

It has been an exciting to Ashes 2023 already. The first three days are over and the match continues to sway one way to another. With the series being  played on England soil, it was expected that the Barmy Army will be right behind Ben Stokes & Co. cheering for them at the top of their voices when the Three Lions take on Australia at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. That is exactly what happened when the action began.

However, a particular activity on social media of the Barmy Army has been attracted a few eyeballs. While the tweet, prima facie, appears to mark the return of Moeen Ali back into the Test squad with the spinner's return being prompted owing to an injury to England's frontline slow bowling option Jack Leach, it also seems to mocking star India batter.

The Barmy Army used a GIF to welcome Moeen in which the spinner can be seen rattling the wicket of Kohli. The caption read: "Mo back with the red ball in hand." The tweet did not go down too well with Indian fans who started responding to it.

Meanwhile, Kohli is enjoying a bit of a break with India's next assignment being the tour of West Indies where the Men in Blue are to play two Test matches, three ODIs and five T20Is. Kohli was part if the side that lost to Australia at the ICC Men's World Test Championship (WTC) final and the team would be looking to start afresh and focus on the job at hand in what happens to be an ODI World Cup year.
