Bangladesh Clinch Maiden Under-19 Asia Cup Title With Dominant Victory Over UAE

Dhruv Parashar of UAE fought a lone battle, scoring 25*, while opener Akshat Rai managed only 11 runs. The rest of the UAE batsmen failed to reach double digits as Nepal bowled them out for 87.

Dubai: In a stellar performance, wicketkeeper-batter Ashiqur Rahman Shibli showcased his brilliance with a second century in five matches, propelling Bangladesh to a commanding 195-run victory over UAE in the Under-19 Asia Cup final on Sunday (December 17).

Opting to bat after winning the toss, Bangladesh's Ashiqur unleashed a stunning innings, smashing 129 runs off 149 balls, including 12 fours and one six. The team posted a formidable 282/8 in their 50 overs.

In response, UAE crumbled under the pressure, getting bundled out for a mere 87 runs in 24.5 overs. The seam trio of Maruf Mridha (3 wickets for 29 runs), Iqbal Hossain Emon (2 wickets for 15 runs), and Rohanat Doullah Borson (3 wickets for 26 runs) wreaked havoc on the UAE batting lineup. Offspinner Sheikh Paevez Jibon (2 wickets for 7 runs) sealed the deal with a tidy spell.

Bangladesh dominated the Under-19 Asia Cup, securing five wins in as many games. The team's significant contributions also came from Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan (60 runs off 71 balls), Ariful Islam (50 runs off 40 balls), and skipper Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby's quickfire 21 runs off 11 balls.
