Coach Guardiola signs contract extension with Man City
Spanish coach Pep Guardiola signed a contract extension with Manchester City until 2021, the English Premier League (EPL) champions have announced.
Guardiola, who took over at City in 2016, led the squad to the EPL title, becoming the first British team to reach 100 points in the league table, reports Efe news agency.
"I am so happy and excited. It's a pleasure to be able to work here," the Manchester City website cited Guardiola as saying on Thursday.
"I enjoy working with our players every day and we will try to do our best together in the coming years. As a manager, you have to feel good to be with the players, and I feel good," he added.
City CEO Ferran Soriano praised the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach, saying the renewal of Guardiola's contract is "fantastic news for Manchester City."
During their successful Premier League season under Guardiola, City scored a record 106 goals and won a record 32 matches.
