Red Alert For Heavy Rainfall In Bihar's 12 Districts Today. Check Details

Bihar is experiencing active monsoon conditions, particularly in South Bihar, prompting a red alert for heavy rainfall in 12 districts, including Gaya and Aurangabad.

The monsoon is now in full swing in Bihar. While several districts in the state have been experiencing intermittent rainfall for the past 10 days, the weather department has issued a warning. The monsoon is becoming active in South Bihar from Monday (June 30). A red alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in 12 districts, including Gaya, Nawada, Rohtas, and Aurangabad.

According to the Meteorological Centre Patna, heavy rain will occur in all 19 districts of South Bihar from Monday. A warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for 12 of these districts. There is also an estimate of lightning and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour in many districts.

Heavy Rain Alert In Bihar

The weather department has issued a heavy rainfall alert for the following 12 districts:

Very heavy rainfall likely: Gaya, Nawada, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Banka

Heavy rainfall likely: Kaimur, Buxar, Arwal, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Jamui

Moderate rainfall expected in North Bihar

Apart from South Bihar, districts like Purnia, Katihar, Saharsa, Supaul, Madhepura, Kishanganj, and Araria in North Bihar may experience moderate rainfall. Patna, Bhagalpur, Lakhisarai, Munger, Begusarai, and Khagaria will also remain cloudy with intermittent rain.

Where and how much rain fell on Sunday?

On Sunday, light to moderate rainfall was recorded in several districts of Bihar. However, there was no heavy rainfall anywhere. See the list below for the amount of rainfall in each district.

Buxar 34.4 mm
Gaya 28.0 mm
Nalanda 27.4 mm
Arwal 16.6 mm
Gopalganj 15.2 mm

Siwan 9.8 mm
Patna (Barh) 8.6 mm
Lakhisarai 8.4 mm

In addition, rain was also recorded in the districts of Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Madhubani, Vaishali, and Saran in the afternoon.

Despite the rain, there was not much difference in temperature. The highest temperature on Sunday was recorded in Begusarai at 37.7 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Patna was recorded at 35.2 degrees Celsius. The lowest maximum temperature was recorded in Arwal at 32.5 degrees Celsius. The temperature remained around 34-35 degrees Celsius in most districts of the state.

Appeal to people to be cautious

The weather department has asked people to be cautious in view of lightning and strong winds. An appeal has been made to farmers, children, and the elderly in particular not to go out in the open, not to stand under trees, and to stay away from electronic devices during lightning.
