It is a belief that Lord Shiva is easily pleased during the fifth month of the Hindu calendar.

Mondays in the month of Sawan are considered extremely auspicious, during which devotees observe a fast and worship Lord Shiva.

The holy month of God Shiva began on July 17 and will continue till August 15.

The first Monday of the holy month of Saawan has got the devotees lined up outside Shiva temples all across the country, even before the break of the dawn.

The dates on which devotees can observe Monday fast or ‘Somwar vrat’ are 22 July 2019, 29 July 2019, 5 August 2019, 12 August 2019
