Chhattisgarh: BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi killed by Naxalites, vehicle blown to smithereens

Voting in Chhattisgarh is in three phases and will be held on April 11, April 18 and April 23.

Security forces have been rushed to the area while an emergency meeting has been called by the chief minister.

The BJP MLA Mandavi was the deputy leader of the Opposition.

The Naxalites blew up a vehicle in the convoy with an IED and sprayed fire at the occupants. The intensity of the blast was so high that the vehicle was blown to smithereens.

As per reports, the incident occurred at Shyamgiri hills when the MLA's convoy was heading towards Kuwakonda from Bacheli area.

The horrendous attack comes two days before the firt phase of Lok Sabha elections.

Preliminary reports say BJP lawmaker Bheema Mandavi and four others were killed this evening Naxalites waylaid and ambushed his convoy in Dantewada in Chhattisgarh.
