Day After Clearing 12-Hour Session In Lok Sabha, Waqf Bill Faces Rajya Sabha Test

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill is awaiting clearance by Rajya Sabha before being sent to President Droupadi Murmu for her assent.

The Rajya Sabha commenced proceedings on Thursday with an address by Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. He said the Waqf Bill will be renamed the Unified Waqf Management Empowerment, Efficiency, and Development (UMEED) Bill.

During the discussion on the Waqf Bill yesterday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah clarified that the bill aims to improve the management of Waqf properties, ensuring transparency. ( Image Source: PTI)
