The Aam Aadmi Party office in New Delhi was decked out in flowers and balloons, and party workers danced to drumbeats to celebrate the political group's new status as a national party on Tuesday. At DDU Marg, a large number of AAP leaders and employees congregated as party flags, patriotic songs, and yellow and blue balloons adorned the streets. At the celebrations, sweets were given out by other party members to a large number of female workers.

"This is the result of the hardwork and dedication of each and every party member. We are proud to be recognised as a national party. All our efforts have paid off," Seema Arya of AAP's women wing said. Arya, who has been a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) since 2013, stated that the party's attainment of national status in "such a short period of time" is a "matter of pride."

Formed in November 2012, the AAP got national party status in only 10 years. The Arvind Kejriwal-drove party is right now in power in Delhi and Punjab, and has five MLAs in Gujarat and two in the Goa Assembly.

"Each and every party worker has put in efforts. Many of us have worked for the party day and night. There were days when we did not have time for our families," another AAP's women wing member Dharna Seth said.

The national party status comes as a lift for the AAP as it is equipping to challenge the assembly polls in Karnataka one month from now and in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the not-so-distant future. It will also give the party a boost ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The party staff will be celebrating all day today because we are so happy.

"We are extremely happy and the party workers will be celebrating all day today. The national party tag is a huge achievement for us. We kept working hard without any expectations and today, all those efforts paid off," party worker Madhu Bhatia said.

When a political organization is recognized as a state party in at least four states, it automatically becomes a national party, according to the rules. In the Gujarat elections in December of last year, the AAP won five seats and received approximately 13% of the vote. It was already recognised as a state party in Delhi, Goa, and Punjab.
