Sedans made a comeback in 2022 with new launches. While SUVs are still favoured for their driving position & styling, luxury sedans picked up demand due to the sedan shape & the space plus comfort.

Volkswagen Virtus: The Virtus is Volkswagen's Vento replacement but this new sedan has become more premium while being the longest car in its class. The Virtus comes with two turbo-petrol options including a 1.0l turbo unit and a 1.5l version. Both engine options come with an automatic gearbox while the Virtus also comes with features like a sunroof, touch-enabled climate control buttons, and more. Skoda Slavia: The Slavia replaces the Rapid in India and is their new midsize premium sedan. The Slavia like the Virtus also comes with two turbo-petrol engine options along with multiple gearbox choices. The Slavia is an evolution of the Skoda design language while having a wheelbase of 2651mm along with a boot space of 521 litres. Honda City e:HEV: The City made a big splash with the hybrid version getting launched in India. The City e:HEV has a mileage of 26.5 km/l while having a hybrid system with two motors. The City hybrid also has many drive modes which include EV Drive Mode, Hybrid Drive Mode, and Engine Drive Mode. The City hybrid also became the first Honda to have ADAS features with the Honda Sensing technology pack which adds more safety over the current features along with being the only ADAS-equipped sedan in its class or at this price bracket. Mercedes-Benz C-Class: The C-Class is one of the strong sellers from Mercedes-Benz and the new generation model packs in more technology than ever along with more efficiency via the mild hybrid engine options. The new C-Class has a baby S-Class vibe with sleeker styling with the interior making a big leap forward thanks to a portrait-style touchscreen along with many features like personalized driver profiles with fingerprint recognition along with connected car technology. BMW i4: BMW entered the EV segment with its i4 being its EV sedan. The i4 is based on the 4 -Series Gran Coupe which in turn is based on the 3-Series. The i4 then has a more coupe-like design when compared to the 3-Series. The talking point with the i4 is the range which is 590km while it has a single motor mounted on the rear axle. Mercedes-Benz EQS: Mercedes-Benz launched its EQS in India in both AMG form and in being the first electric luxury car being locally assembled in India. The EQS 580 has a range of 857km which is ARAI certified and that makes it the highest-range EV in India. The EQS 53 meanwhile is more about performance with an AMG-specific battery plus tuning for a sportier driving experience. The EQS 53 has 761bhp and around 1020nm of torque.
