WATCH | US President Biden Walks Up To PM Modi To Greet Him Ahead Of G7 Summit

Prime Minister Modi also met his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau. Both leaders are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting later this evening.

New Delhi: United States President Joe Biden walked up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to greet him ahead of the Group of Seven (G7) Summit at Schloss Elmau in Germany on Monday. This was the first meeting between the two leaders after they met in Japan for the Quad summit in May. The two leaders are also scheduled to meet in July for the I2U2 virtual summit of the quadrilateral economic forum comprising India, Israel, the UAE and the US, news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

Prime Minister Modi also met his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau. Both leaders are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting later this evening.

He also met French President Emmanuel Macron at the G7 Summit.

“PM @narendramodi with @POTUS @JoeBiden, @President @EmmanuelMacron and PM @JustinTrudeau at the G-7 Summit in Germany,” PMO India tweeted.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz welcomed Prime Minister Modi upon his arrival at Schloss Elmau, the venue of the summit in southern Germany.

“PM @narendramodi arrived at the G-7 Summit, where he was welcomed by @Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz,” PMO India wrote on the micro-blogging platform.

Prime Minister Modi in the G7 session on climate, energy and health highlighted India’s efforts for green growth, clean energy, sustainable lifestyles and global well-being.

“Becoming pro-planet people. Investing in a better future. In the @G7 session on climate, energy & health, PM @narendramodi highlighted India’s efforts for green growth, clean energy, sustainable lifestyles & global wellbeing,” Ministry of External affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted.

Prime Minister Modi also held talks with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on the sidelines of the G7 Summit. 

 

“Boosting engagement with a valued partner. PM @narendramodi and President @CyrilRamaphosa held talks on the sidelines of the G-7 Summit. They discussed the full range of friendship between India and South Africa including ways to boost trade and people-to-people ties,” PMO India tweeted.

The leaders of the world’s seven richest countries will discuss various important global issues, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine, food security and counter-terrorism.

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi held a productive meeting with Argentinian President Alberto Fernandez on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.

The two leaders during their first bilateral meeting discussed ways to deepen commercial and cultural linkages between India and Argentina.

“Reviewed the full range of the India-Argentina friendship during the very productive meeting with President @alferdez in Munich. Stronger cooperation between our nations will greatly benefit our people,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
