After Lakshadweep Push, PM Modi Makes Fresh Appeal To Promote Domestic Tourism

PM Narendra Modi also made people aware of water conservation and save every drop of water.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a fresh appeal on Sunday called for the promotion of domestic tourism and suggested that the Indian islands be developed as a destination for tourism. While addressing the foundation stone-laying ceremony of Khodaldham Trust Cancer Hospital in Gujarat, he urged the countrymen to take nine solemn pledges, including promoting tourism.

According to news agency ANI, PM Modi said, "Think about your country first. Do whatever you wish for your country first. If you are planning a vacation, look up tourism sites in your homeland and consider visiting these places with your loved ones. Do what you can to promote tourism in India."

The remarks come after a recent diplomatic row between India and Maldives after several junior ministers and government officials made derogatory statements about India, ridiculing Prime Minister Modi's call to promote Lakshadweep as a beach tourism destination.

In response, New Delhi strongly objected to the viral posts and called the Maldivian envoy to the South Block.

Meanwhile, in his latest address, PM Narendra Modi also stressed on water conservation and urged citizens to save every drop of water.

"Go from village to village to make people aware of digital transactions, too. I would also urge all my fellow countrymen to strive to make their villages, localities, and cities Number One in cleanliness," PM Modi added.

Renewing his remarks on 'Vocal for Local', PM Modi said, "Promote locally-made products and make farmers aware of natural farming. Include millet foods in your everyday diet. I also request you all to embrace sports as a way of life. Most importantly, keep yourselves away from any kind of drug and addiction."

Along the lines of "Make in India," he once again promoted "Wed in India," urging his fellow countrymen to host weddings within the nation rather than abroad.

PM Modi said, "Is it mandatory for marriages to take place abroad? Can't we have these events here in our nation? Every time we have a destination wedding, our money ends up in someone else's bank account. It is best to avoid the trend of having wedding ceremonies held elsewhere. I urge all of you to get married in India."
