Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to the United States, on Tuesday met over two dozen thought leaders from various walks of life, including Tesla and Twitter owner Elon Musk, astrophysicist and author Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Nobel laureate economist Paul Romer. The meeting with Musk comes under the backdrop of longstanding talks of a Tesla electric vehicle manufacturing plant being set up in India.
PM also met other notable figures, including author Nicholas Nassim Taleb and investor Ray Dalio, Falu Shah, Jeff Smith, Michael Froman, Daniel Russel, Elbridge Colby, Peter Agre, Stephen Klasko, and Chandrika Tandon.

- Musk, who met PM Modi during the first leg of his US visit, said that he is a fan of PM Modi. Musk also said that he is incredibly excited about the future of India. He heaped praises on PM Modi and said that Prime Minister really cares about India and he is pushing for investments in India.
- After meeting PM Modi, Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson said, "I am quite sure I am not alone when I say the potential for what India can accomplish knows no limits." Tyson also read out a quote from his book "Space Chronicles: Facing the Ultimate Frontier". The quote was: "For me, the sky is not the limit", to this PM Modi responded with a "wah", ANI reported.
- During his US visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met a group of eminent US academics in New York, USA. The academics hailed from diverse fields of agriculture, marketing, engineering, technology and health.
- PM Modi also met Essayist and Statistician professor Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Author and Academic Professor Robert Thurman, co-founder of hedge fund, Bridgewater Associates Ray Dalio, Professor Paul Romer, and American astrophysicist, author, and science communicator Neil De Grasse Tyson.
- American astrophysicist and science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson has called India’s prime minister Narendra Modi “scientifically thoughtful”, and said that India has a “very bright future”. His comments came as he met Modi in New York on Tuesday.
- After meeting PM Modi, Professor Paul Romer said that it was a great meeting. He also said that India can show the way to the world on the authentication front with programs like Aadhaar. "It was a great meeting. We talked about the importance of successful urban development. He understands these issues very well. PM articulated it very well that urbanisation is not a problem. It’s an opportunity. I take this as a slogan. India can show the way to the World on the authentication front with programs like Aadhaar," Romer said, as quoted by ANI.
- PM Modi will celebrate the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters with the UN leadership and members of the international community on June 21. This will be the first time that the main Yoga Day ceremony is hosted abroad. Till last year, the primary Yoga Day ceremony was being held in India.
- PM Modi landed at New York's JFK Airport on Tuesday night. He is on a three-day official state visit to the United States. After the US trip, PM Modi will visit Egypt for two days.
- Modi is visiting the US from June 21-24 at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. They will host Modi at a state dinner on June 22. The visit also includes an address by the prime minister to the joint session of the US Congress on June 22.
