New Delhi: A Muslim girl is earning compliments on the internet for her exceptional response to an anti-Islam protest in the US. The young woman of colour, who spotted an anti-Islam protest, posed smilingly in front of the protest and took a picture which instantly went viral on social media. The image shows protesters with anti-Islam slogans and banners in the background and the girl in Hijab posing with a smile in front of them. She posted the picture on her Instagram account and captioned it as “Kindness is a mark of faith. Those who aren’t kind have no faith. -Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)” The image is being seen as a powerful symbol of resistance. In an interview to international media Buzzfeed, the 24-year-old woman who is named Shaymaa Ismaa’eel, 24, who works as a behavioral therapist for children with autism from the DC area of America, shared the story behind the picture that had over 1.6 lakh likes by the time this story was filed. She said she went to the Islamic Circle of North America convention on 20th April and saw a group of men with signs protesting Islam outside. She said she wanted to fight the hatred with with kindness, so on the third day of the convention she went and took the viral photo. She also posted the image on Twitter. "On April 21st I smiled in the face of bigotry and walked away feeling the greatest form of accomplishment," she wrote on the micro-blogging site.
