No Compromise On Sovereignty: China Warns US To Beware On Taiwan After Biden's Comments
In a clarification regarding Biden's comments, the White House said that the President was "not announcing any change in our policy and there is no change in our policy."
New Delhi: After President Joe Biden's comments that the United States will step in to protect Taiwan from Chinese incursion, China's Foreign Ministry on Friday warned the US that China will not stand any attack on its territorial integrity, security and sovereignty, Global Times reported.
While urging the US to not stand against the 1.4 billion Chinese people, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said, "No one should underestimate the strong resolve, determination and capability of the Chinese people to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity."
"We urge the US side to earnestly abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communique, be cautious in words and deeds on the Taiwan question and refrain from sending any wrong signals to secessionists, so as not to seriously damage China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits," Wang was quoted by IANS in its report.
Earlier on Thursday, US President Joe Biden in a CNN town hall meeting said that the United States will come to Taiwan's defence if the Chinese army tried to violate the island country's territorial integrity. The comments made by the US President are believed to be deviating from US's "strategic ambiguity" on the Taiwan question.
In a clarification regarding Biden's comments, the White House said that the President was "not announcing any change in our policy and there is no change in our policy."
Previously on the occasion of Taiwanese national day, Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-Wen said that Taiwan will keep reinforcing its defence so that no Taiwanese will be coerced to bow down to the path that China has laid down which doesn't have any freedom and democracy.
