Kabul Gurdwara Attack | ISIS Claims Responsibility Of Blast Targeting Hindus & Sikhs, Cites Prophet’s ‘Insult’: Report

Earlier on Saturday, two people were killed and at least seven others injured as terrorists affiliated to the Islamic State entered the Karte Parwan Gurdwara in Kabul.

New Delhi: Claiming responsibility for an attack on a Gurdwara in Afghanistan capital Kabul, the ISIS has said it was retaliation for ‘insults’ to Prophet Muhammed. The ISIS in a message posted on its Amaq propaganda site said the attack on Saturday targeted Hindus and Sikhs and the “apostates” who protected them in “an act of support for the Messenger of Allah”, Agence France-Presse reported.

The ISIS said one of its fighters “penetrated a temple for Hindu and Sikh polytheists in Kabul, after killing its guard, and opened fire on the pagans inside with his machine gun and hand grenades”.

Earlier on Saturday, two people were killed and at least seven others injured as terrorists affiliated to the Islamic State entered the Karte Parwan Gurdwara in Kabul.

Many Sikhs, including women and children, in recent months took refuge in the complex that was attacked on Saturday.

The attackers, according to Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Nafi Takor, lobbed at least one grenade when they entered the Gurdwara, setting off a blaze.

The attack on Saturday morning follows an Indian delegation’s visit to Kabul to discuss the distribution of humanitarian aid from India to Afghanistan.

This comes as protests in several nations were sparked by suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma’s remarks on the Prophet earlier this month.

The BJP has suspended Sharma from the party’s primary membership as several Islamic countries condemned her comments on the Prophet during a TV debate.
