“I extend an invitation to vaccine manufacturers around the world. Come, make vaccine in India,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi said the coronavirus pandemic has taught the world that the global economy should be more diversified now.

Prime Minister Modi also threw light on Zydus Cadila’s three-dose Covid-19 DNA vaccine that was cleared by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) last month.

“I would like to inform the UNGA that India has developed the world’s first DNA vaccine. Another vaccine is in the final stages of development,” he said.

“The Indian scientists are working on developing a nasal vaccine for the coronavirus,” he added.

The world’s first DNA-plasmid vaccine, developed by Cadila Healthcare (Zydus Cadila), last month received emergency-use authorisation from the DCGI for use in adolescents 12 years old and above.
