'I didn't change Khan Sahab, we changed each other', says Imran Khan's wife Bushra Maneka in first interview

The first lady of Pakistan Bushra Maneka in her first interview also revealed that Imran Khan does not get new clothes stitched for himself and wears only the ones gifted to him by people.

New Delhi: Pakistan’s first lady Bushra Maneka on Thursday appeared in her first ever TV interview and said that the people of Pakistan are fortunate to have a leader like Imran Khan. In an extensive interview conducted by Hum TV’s Nadeem Malik, the first lady of the country said that Khan had the country’s best interests at heart. The spiritual guide who married Pakistan’s most famous cricketer and politician said that in her transition from being a spiritual guide to becoming the first lady, she has witnessed that people earlier used to come to her to get close to God, but now they come to her to get close to ‘Khan Sahab.’ She said that people think she changed Imran Khan when the truth is that ‘we have changed each other’. Talking about Imran Khan’s simplicity Maneka said that Imran is the simplest person she has met. She revealed that Khan is not particular about clothes or food. He does not get any clothes stitched for himself. She said once when she asked a housekeeper to take out his summer clothes, she was told that he does not have any. She revealed that the dresses he wears throughout the season are gifted to him by somebody; he never gets clothes stitched for himself. She  rubbished reports that said Maneka married khan because she was divinely inspired to do it. She also said that post their marriage there has been a shift in Khan’s temperament because of his increased religiosity. There was another controversy surrounding her marriage which claimed that she did not wait for the required time before getting into her second marriage. She rejected the reports and said that she completed her “iddat” before she left her former husband. She also talked about the causes she would champion as the first lady which include working for elderly, poor, orphans and differently-abled people.
