Elon Musk 'Welcomes Back' Pranksters Who Posed As Sacked Twitter Employees After Takeover

Elon Musk took to Twitter and shared a picture of him with two people who seemed like Twitter employees pretended to be fired by him during mass layoffs.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday took to Twitter and shared a picture of him with two people who seemed like Twitter employees pretending to be fired by him during mass layoffs. "Welcoming back Ligma & Johnson!" he wrote along with the picture. In another tweet, Musk added, "Important to admit when I'm wrong & firing them was truly one of my biggest mistakes." The individuals featured in Musk's new tweet are the pranksters who almost a couple of weeks back had pretended to be laid-off in front of the media. At the time, the duo tricked multiple media outlets as the public anxiously awaited news on whether Musk had begun axing staffers.

Several images and videos went viral in which two men carrying boxes were seen standing near the entrance of Twitter's San Francisco building, claiming to have been laid off by Musk. Musk came up with a witty reaction to the whole prankster episode by tweeting, "Ligma Johnson had it coming."

Musk's tweet was about one of the pranksters who said his name was "Rahul Ligma" -- a reference to a popular internet meme -- and held a copy of Michelle Obama's book 'Becoming' aloft while speaking to reporters. The other said his name was "Daniel Johnson."

Earlier, Elon Musk came down heavily on his employee on the social media platform after he questioned the claim of his boss’s tweet. Musk had earlier tweeted an apology for Twitter being "super slow" in many countries, saying that the app is doing ">1000 poorly batched RPCs just to render timelines".

A Twitter developer named Eric Frohnhoefer, who worked on Twitter for Android for years, tweeted that Musk's assessment is wrong. The world’s richest man then retorted asking him what is the correct figure and what have the developers done to fix it. Soon, users started to react as memes also started flooding the platform.
