China says US "forcefully" moving resolution on Masood Azhar in UNSC

China alleged that America's latest attempt of blacklisting Masood Azhar only "complicates" the issue.

China urged US to act cautiously and avoid forcefully moving forward the resolution draft
It accused the US of undermining the authority of the UN anti-terrorism committee

New Delhi: As US moved a draft constitution in the United Nations Security Council to blacklist Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar, China urged it to act cautiously and avoid forcefully moving forward the resolution draft. China accused the US of undermining the authority of the UN anti-terrorism committee by "forcefully moving" a resolution. It alleged that America's move only "complicates" the issue, news agency PTI reported. “This is not in line with resolution of the issue through dialogue and negotiations. This has reduced the authority of the Committee as a main anti-terrorism body of the UNSC and this is not conducive to the solidarity and only complicates the issue,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang told a media briefing A fresh move was pushed by the US, Britain and France for the UNSC to designate the JeM chief as a global terrorist. This came weeks after China vetoed the blacklisting of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar at United Nations Security Council.  China had put last-minute technical hold before the end of deadline for the resolution against Azhar, about two weeks ago. The US circulated a resolution-drafted with British and  and French support - to the 15-member council that would designate JeM leader Masood Azhar, subjecting him to an arms embargo, travel ban and asset freeze, Reuters reported. Draft resolution's annex says JeM's Azhar is associated with Islamic State or al-Qaida for "participating in financing, planning, facilitating, preparing, or perpetrating" or "supplying, selling or transferring arms and related material" or supporting acts of JeM, the Associated Press said.
