British PM Walks On Streets Of Kyiv With Ukrainian Prez, Corners Putin

“What Putin has done in places like Bucha and Irpin is war crimes that have permanently polluted his reputation and the reputation of his government,” AFP quoted Johnson as saying.

New Delhi: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said the discovery of civilian bodies in Ukrainian towns has “permanently polluted” Russian President Vladimir Putin’s reputation.

“What Putin has done in places like Bucha and Irpin is war crimes that have permanently polluted his reputation and the reputation of his government,” AFP quoted Johnson as saying.

The British Prime Minister was seen standing next to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a visit to Kyiv earlier on Saturday.

The two leaders also walked through the center of Kyiv and talked to ordinary Kyivans.

“At a handshake distance. @BorisJohnson and @ZelenskyyUa walked through the center of Kyiv and talked to ordinary Kyivans. This is what democracy looks like. This is what courage looks like. This is what true friendship between peoples and between nations looks like,” Defence of Ukraine tweeted along with the video of the two leaders walking on streets of Kyiv and interacting with the people amid Russian invasion.

The British Prime Minister’s visit was the first of a G7 leader since Russia launched the invasion earlier on February 24

He pledged 120 armoured vehicles and new anti-ship missile systems, part of another 100 million pounds of high-grade military equipment besides confirming an additional $500 million in World Bank lending, taking UK’s total loan guarantee up to $1 billion.

This comes as hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have been displaced due to the offensive launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin calling it a “special military operation” to demilitarise and “denazify” its neighbour.
