American Airlines Grounds All Its Flights For 1 Hour In US Over Technical Issue

"An estimated timeframe has not been provided, but they're trying to fix it in the shortest possible time," the company said in a post on X.

American Airlines on Tuesday temporarily grounded all its flights in the US due to a technical issue in one of the busiest travel periods of the year, multiple reports said.

The US' Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) posted a nationwide groundstop order for all American flights at the request of the airline, an advisory said.

However, shortly after the airliner said that it has resumed service on Tuesday morning. American Airlines said that a 'technical issue' had delayed all of its flights in the US for around an hour. But the company started boarding flights again at around 8 am ET, according to CNN.

The outage comes at a time when people across America and Europe travel for Christmas and New Year vacation.

"An estimated timeframe has not been provided, but they're trying to fix it in the shortest possible time," the company had said in an earleir post on X.

There was no immediate response from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. Meanwhile, social media was full of the complaints from the travellers who complained of being stuck at the airport.

The outage came at a time when the airline is scheduled to have more than 3,300 domestic flights in the day, the report added. American Airlines' stock initially fell nearly 3 per cent in premarket trading, but rose 1 per cent following the resolution.

The latest outage comes months after American Airlines grounded all its flights due to an IT crash caused by a faulty software update after which several airlines were grounded in July.

Delta Airlines was among other operators that were impacted - with more than 42,000 flights were delayed and over 4,700 cancelled worldwide, according to BBC.

West Bengal News: Suvendu Adhikari alleges TMC attack in Purulia, stages midnight protest at police stationWest Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday alleged that his convoy was attacked by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers in Purulia district, triggering panic and chaos at the spot. Adhikari was returning after attending a programme in Purulia when the incident reportedly took place. Following the alleged attack, he raised slogans and proceeded to the local police station, where he staged a peaceful sit-in protest for nearly five hours, extending until after midnight. Adhikari accused the ruling TMC of orchestrating a planned attack on his vehicle and alleged the involvement of the state police. He claimed that the incident reflected a nexus between “criminal elements and the administration,” and held Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who also heads the state home department, responsible for the situation. In strong remarks, he alleged that files were stolen and intimidation was carried out by individuals linked to the ruling party. The BJP leader also shared posts on social media platform X late at night, reiterating his allegations and stating that the fight against what he termed “political violence” in West Bengal would continue. After the incident, Adhikari reached the police station, where he remained seated in protest for several hours, demanding action against those responsible. The TMC, however, has not yet issued an official response to the allegations.
