New Delhi: A traffic police constable of Assam shot to fame on Monday on the micro-blogging website Twitter, for manning the traffic during a heavy storm. Identified as Mithun Das, the constable was widely praised on Twitter, as a video of his sheer dedication to his work did rapid rounds on the social media. In the footage which is apparently shot by a passerby Das can be seen manning traffic at a busy crossroad, getting drenched in the heavy rain, on the streets of Guwahati. The Assam police acknowledged the devotion of the cop in a tweet: “Dedication is thy name! We salute AB Constable Mithun Das (Basistha PS) of @GuwahatiPol , for his exceptional devotion towards duty and showing us how dedication can turn a storm into a sprinkle. Kudos!” The video earned the cop a recognition on social media, but at the same time drew the attention of netizens to the lack of facilities like a shed or a raincoat at that time.
