Vismaya V Nair allegedly committed suicide following the constant physical abuse by her husband. She shared her photos with bruises to her close relatives on WhatsApp chats days before she died.
Greed has no limits
Vismaya and Kiran Kumar got married in May last year. Kiran allegedly was not happy with the new car that was gifted to him by Vismaya’s father Thrivikraman Nair. Apart from the car, costing Rs 11 lakh, Thrivikraman had given 1.25 acre of land and 100 sovereigns of gold to Kiran as dowry at the time of marriage. But, gripped by greed, Kiran had been allegedly harassing his wife, saying he deserved better.
Booked for serious offences
S Kiran Kumar, who was an assistant vehicle inspector with the state transport department, has been booked under IPC sections 304 (B) (dowry death), and 498A (subjecting a woman to cruelty for dowry). A local court remanded Kiran in judicial custody following the charges of Sooranadu police under the aforementioned sections.
The state women’s panel also registered a suo motu case following the outrage over Vismaya's death in public and on social media, while the police probe was taken over by Inspector General Harshita Attaluri.
