Viral Sach: BSP chief Mayawati ‘s total wealth doubled in 5 years?

New Delhi: A viral message is being circulated that says that BSP supremo Mayawati’s wealth doubled in the last five years. We investigated the message. This is the viral post of Mayawati is doing the rounds on Facebook and WhatsApp. The post claims her wealth was Rs 52 crore in 2007. In 2012, her wealth was Rs 111 crore. Here is the reality. It is being claimed that she had Rs 13 crore 73 lakh in her account, Rs 10 lakh 20 thousand cash, 34 grams gold, 380 carats diamonds whose value is Rs 95 lakh. She also has 18.5 kg silver, 15 lakh artifacts and a revolver worth Rs 5,500. ABP News investigation has revealed that the claims of her bank balance and ornaments is correct. In 2004, she only had ornaments worth Rs 30 lakh. But now she has ornaments worth 1 crore. She has 1035 grams gold and 380 ratti diamonds. In the affidavit filed in 2012, Mayawati had wealth worth Rs 111 crore. It is being said in the message she had commercial buildings worth Rs 19 crore in Delhi. She also has a residential building worth Rs 62 crore in Delhi and one in Lucknow worth Rs 19 crore. She has a debt of Rs 88 lakh and she paid Rs 6 lakh as income tax. These claims were also found to be true. In 2004, she used to have a government bungalow and a house worth Rs 1.75 crore. There were Rs 9 crore 68 lakh in her account in 2004. In 2010, she had Rs 11 crore. In 2012, she had Rs 13 crore and 95 lakh. The viral post turned out to be true.
