Toyota Glanza Unofficial Bookings Open Ahead Of Launch

Toyota’s upcoming, petrol-only premium hatchback will get both manual and automatic transmission options

Bookings for the Toyota Glanza are already being accepted by certain dealerships ahead of its launch on June 6. This premium hatchback is essentially a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Baleno and will only be offered with a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol engine. The Glanza can be booked for a token amount of Rs 10,000 at select dealerships in Pune, Delhi and Mumbai. It is expected to be offered in two variants and the petrol engine will be available with a choice of both 5-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission. The Glanza premium hatchback will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo, the upcoming Tata Altroz as well as its donor car, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Speaking of which, the Toyota hatch will have the same dashboard layout, steering wheel and all-black interior as the Baleno but with different badges. The Glanza’s base variant is expected to be well equipped with features such as auto AC, alloy wheels and push-button stop-start, amongst others. Thus, it is expected to be priced from Rs 7.27 lakh, which would make it slightly more expensive than the Baleno.
