'The Modi Government Is Committed To Protect The Rights Of Sikhs': HM Amit Shah Wishes On Guru Nanak Jayanti

"His vision of a just, compassionate and inclusive society inspires us. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s emphasis on serving others is also very motivating,” wrote the Prime Minister in his tweet.

New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah greeted on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti today. In his tweet the Home Minister wrote, “ The Modi Government is committed to protect the rights of Sikhs, whether it is the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Or the issue of opening Sri Kartarpur Sahib corridor.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his greetings on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti today. In a tweet the PM wrote, “On the special occasion of the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, I recall his pious thoughts and noble ideals. His vision of a just, compassionate and inclusive society inspires us. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s emphasis on serving others is also very motivating.”

On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, the government had reopened the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor on November 17. Earlier this week, a delegation of the BJP leaders of Punjab had met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to open the holy corridor.

The Kartarpur Corridor was closed last year on March 16, 2020 in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. All the covid-19 protocols and norms will be adhered to, an official press release of the Home Ministry said while reopening the corridor.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also upheld the values propagated by Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji. Through a tweet, the Defence Minister wrote, “Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji taught us to serve the poor and needy, fight against inequality and discrimination in our society. His thoughts continue to inspire millions across the world. I bow to him on his jayanti.”
