Accused Of Raping Daughter, Thane Man Ends Life By Jumping In Front Of Train

The man was accused of raping his 11-year-old daughter after which an FIR was booked against him but hours later he jumped in front of a train and died.

A man allegedly died by suicide by after jumping in front of a train hours after an offence was registered against him for raping his 11-year-old daughter in Maharashtra’s Thane, said the police on Sunday. After a case was registered against him on October 26, the man was at large and was found dead on a railway track the same day, said an official, as per a PTI report.

The accused, a 40-year-old autorickshaw driver, lived with his daughter in Badlapur while his wife was employed in Dubai for the last two years, senior inspector Arun Khsirsagar told the news agency.

The accused allegedly raped his daughter between July 2022 and October this year. The incident came to the fore after the girl recently informed her grandmother about the incident and the same was communicated by her to the girl’s mother who arrived home a few days ago, he said.

Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered against the accused  under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the official added.
