Ratan Tata Calls For Stopping Online Hate, Bullying In These Tough Times; Pens Down Hearfelt Post

New Delhi: Chairman of Tata Trust and industrialist Ratan Tata has penned down an Instagram post on Sunday appealing online users to be more empathetic while pointing out that "online community (is) being hurtful to each other, bringing each other down, harshly and with quick judgements". The industrial tycoon further said, "This year has been full of challenges," hinting at the coronavirus pandemic that has left the economy battered and leaving people to face challenges due to job cuts. The corporate veteran said these unprecedented times call for us to be more unified and sensitive towards each other. This is the time to choose kindness and patience, rather than hatred and insensitivity.

In wake of Covid-19 outbreak, Tata Trusts had already committed Rs 1,500 crore in March and urged social media users to express "sensitivity" and "kindness" towards each other. The corporate honcho who has made 26 posts so far has garnered a lot for interest from his followers has only urged people on social media after observing the trend globally as well. The pandemic has forced India to implement lockdown which confined people to remain indoors. Apart from the labour crises owing to the lockdown, several other problems have gripped the nation including floods and locust attacks. Last week Indo-China border dispute also took an ugly turn with 20 soldiers martyred. The leader who has more than 2.6 million followers on the social media platform said, "My presence online is limited, but I truly hope it will evolve into a place of empathy and support for everyone, no matter what you cause, rather than hate and bullying". One of the followers reacted saying, ”You are an inspiration for India while another user commented, “it’s a phenomenal message thank you sir for sharing”. Tata Trusts is also upgrading four government hospitals, two each in Maharashtra and  Uttar Pradesh and convert them into covid-19 treatment centres. It is expected to complete the process by June. It is also going to establish cancer care facilities and connected service providers to modernise the hospitals.
