Prince Harry To Attend Prince Philip's Funeral On April 17 With Royal Family; Meghan To Stay Back

Philip, known as the Duke of Edinburgh, will be given a ceremonial royal funeral held without public processions and only 30 mourners. Though the exact details of attendees haven't been released, among those present will be Prince Harry.

The funeral of Queen Elizabeth II's husband, Prince Philip, will take place at 1400 GMT on Saturday, April 17 in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, west of London, Buckingham Palace said, announcing that the funeral will be televised. Philip, the longtime husband of Queen Elizabeth II, died "peacefully" at Windsor Castle at the age of 99

Owing to the Coronavirus pandemic, the long-established plans for his funeral have been scaled down but remained very much in line with Philip's wishes.

Philip, known as the Duke of Edinburgh, will be given a ceremonial royal funeral held entirely within the grounds of Windsor Castle without public processions and only 30 mourners. Though the exact details of attendees haven't been released, a palace spokesman reportedly said that among those present will be Prince Harry however, his wife, Meghan, who is pregnant with their second child, will not attend on doctor's advice. 

This will be the first time after since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview, that the Duke of Sussex will reunite with his royal family by flying overseas to pay last respects to his late grandfather.

Prince Philip tied the knot with Queen Elizabeth II on November 20, 1947. They had four children together- Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. The couple also had eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Prince Philip passed away two months before his 100th birthday on June 10. He made sporadic public appearances after the COVID-19 pandemic engulfed the entire world.
