North Indians Are Getting Richer Due To DMK And They Vote For BJP Says: DMK Minister Sekar Babu

Chennai (Tamil Nadu): DMK minister Sekar Babu’s comments on North Indians has stoked a fresh controversy in the state.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu): DMK minister PK Sekar Babu’s comments on North Indians has stoked a fresh controversy in the state.

Minister for Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments, Sekar Babu said that the North Indians in the state are getting richer not because of the BJP, but because of Dravidian parties like DMK.

Speaking at a food distribution event here, Sekar Babu expressed his disappointment about not getting votes from the constituency where North Indians reside in sizeable numbers.

“When we ask for the vote, you (North Indians) tell us that you voted for us only. But you cheated. Particularly, in this area, DMK received only 50 votes while BJP received 250," the legislator from Harbour Constituency said.

He emphasized that he sees the North Indian as BJP voters in the state. “You didn't vote for Dravidian parties in 2011, 2014, 2016, 2019, & 2021, yet we served you selflessly,” Sekar Babu said at the event.

“Make a wrongdoer feel guilty and shy by doing him a favour. If others harm you, do good unto them, so that they are shamed into reaizing their mistakes.”

“Whoever does something good we are ready to welcome it. We never think of you (people from north India settled here) as people from other states. We think of you as our own and as one amongst us,” the minister added.

The comments by Babu have come after DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has already strictly instructed all of his ministers that none of them would create or utter anything controversial that puts the party in a bad light.
