Nadda Pulls Up ‘Communal’ Congress, Says 'BJP Will Form Govt In Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu And Puducherry'

Nadda, who was addressing a press conference in Chennai, expressed confidence of the BJP’s splendid performance in West Bengal where it is locked in a bitter contest with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Chennai: Expressing confidence of the saffron party forming governments in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Jagat Prakash Nadda on Sunday trained his guns at the “communal” Congress alleging the grand old party has always ignored regional issues despite being a national party.

Nadda, who was addressing a press conference in Chennai, expressed confidence of the BJP’s splendid performance in West Bengal where it is locked in a bitter contest with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC).

“The signals in the two phases of West Bengal clearly have shown that BJP is heading towards victory,” he said.

Asserting the NDA will win the Assam Assembly elections yet again, the BJP chief said: “In Assam, we are retaining the government of NDA along with UPPL and AGP.”

Commenting on the political scene in Tamil Nadu, Nadda said “under the leadership of AIADMK we are forming the government” and hit out the Congress while asserting the BJP has also given priority to regional issues.

“As a national party, Congress ignored regional issues. Now they are only following DMK. BJP, on the other hand, always prioritises regional issues. For example, when Congress banned Jallikattu, DMK was a meek spectator. It was PM Modi who nullified it,” he said.

Nadda also claimed the BJP has emerged as a formidable force in Kerala.

“In Kerala, we are coming as a force because the LDF and UDF have given misgovernance. The people have started supporting the BJP. So, we will do good in Kerala too,” said Nadda.

“We have been charged as communal but it's actually them (Congress),” he added while taking potshots at the Congress for joining hands with the Muslim League in Kerala and with Badruddin Ajmal in Assam.

The BJP president likewise expressed confidence of forming the government in the Union Territory of Puducherry. “In Puducherry also, we are making a clear way of formation of the government,” he said.

The results of the assembly polls being held in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry will be declared on May 2.
