Muradnagar Roof Collapse: Blacklisted Engineer & Contractor To Pay For Losses, Orders CM Yogi Adityanath

Muradnagar roof collapse: After 25 people were feared dead on Sunday as result of complex roof of a crematorium collapsing due to heavy rain, at Muradnagar in Ghaziabad, chief minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered action against the engineer and contractor responsible for the incident, and also asked to recover the entire loss from them. Also Read:  Govt Body Removes The Word ‘Halal’ From Its Red Meat Manual Amid Protests; What It Means Officials have been instructed to recover the entire loss from the engineer and contractor besides blacklisting them as well, as per the sources in ABP News.  The notice to this effect was issued to district magistrate and Commissioner.  The CM came down heavily on the authorities asking to describe reasons for lapse if the instructions were clearly given to them for conducting physical verification of above Rs 50 lakh construction works. The CM has also offered financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the deceased families besides providing housing facility to the homeless families. The linter of the structure suddenly collapsed due to the heavy rain leading to the tragic incident. Locals immediately informed the NDRF and the team is carrying out rescue operations. After the incident, the CM has instructed the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police to take immediate relief steps. Some have complained of the lack of facilities at the hospital and accused the local administration of callous attitude in dealing with the incident. Ajay Tyagi, the contractor was arrested from a village near the border of Meerut and Muzaffarnagar districts of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Tuesday. Ghaziabad Police had on Monday arrested Muradnagar Nagar Palika Executive Officer Niharika Singh, Junior Engineer Chandra Pal and Supervisor Ashish as they were involved in the tendering process for building the structure. They were sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Contractor Ajay Tyagi, who fled after learning about the collapse, was held near the Ganga canal bridge of Sathedi village by a joint team of Muradnagar and Niwari police. A tender of Rs 55 lakh was awarded to Tyagi for renovation and construction of shelter three months ago, and the shelter was opened to the public 15 days back, reported PTI.
