LeT Terrorist And Mumbai Terror Attack Mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi Arrested In Pakistan

The 26/11 terror attack conspirator, Lakhvi was designated as a global terrorist by the UN under the United Nations Security Council Resolution in 2008.

Lakshar-e-Taiba (LeT) operations commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, accused of conspiring the deadly Mumbai terror attack, was arrested by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Pakistan on Saturday, on terror financing charges. ALSO READ | 'Today’s Startups Are Tomorrow’s MNCs', PM Modi Inaugurates IIM-Sambalpur Campus| Key Takeaways Quoting a CTD official, news agency PTI reported that proscribed organization LeT leader Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi was arrested following an intelligence-based operation conducted by the CTD Punjab however the agency did not reveal the place of his arrest. According to the reports, the 61-year-old Lakhvi, who was on bail since 2015 in the Mumbai attack case, has been arrested in connection with a terrorism financing case registered by the Punjab Counter Terror Department at Lahore police station. He was allegedly running a dispensary using funds collected for terrorism financing. The 26/11 terror attack conspirator, Lakhvi was designated as a global terrorist by the UN under the United Nations Security Council Resolution in 2008. "Lakhvi and others also collected funds from this dispensary and used these funds for further terrorism financing. He also used these funds for personal expenses," the CTD official said, as quoted by PTI. The Mumbai terror attack left the nation in state of despair and shock in which the security forces killed nine terrorists at the end of four-day long battle. The deadliest terror attacks left 190 people dead and over 300 injured in the financial capital Mumbai in 2008.
