Massive Wildfire Raging At Dzuko Valley On Manipur Nagaland Border; Amit Shah Assures Help

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured help to Manipur for containing the massive wildfire raging at the famed Dzuko Valley.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has taken stock of the wildfire that has spread in the famous Dzukou Valley located on the border of Manipur and Nagaland. According to Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, the Home Minister has assured assistance to contain the situation.
"Amit Shah Ji has assured all the necessary assistance from the Home Ministry to contain the situation at earliest," said Manipur CM N. Biren Singh in tweet. ALSO READ: Blanketed With Dense Fog, Delhi Wakes Up At 1.1 Degrees On New Year, Coldest Day In 15 Years The massive fire was reported a few days ago and the CM had also tweeted about it on Wednesday night. According to Biren, the fire probably started about 2-3 days ago from the Nagaland side and it crossed over to Manipur. The CM had also done an aerial survey of the situation. A report by IANS says that in Kohima, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) officials said the massive fire broke out due to unknown reasons. "The quantum of damage from the incident is not yet ascertained. The blaze in the valley was so huge that it was visible from Kohima. Due to the strong winds, the fire is expected to move further towards the main valley," an NSDMA official said in the report. The official had also said that they are considering reaching out to Indian Air Force choppers to douse the fire.
