Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Talks Social Justice, Health Wins And Women Empowerment

In his Mann Ki Baat address, PM Modi highlighted India's progress and lauded Telangana women's millet biscuits and eco-friendly pads.

In the 123rd episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected on India’s social progress, health achievements, women's empowerment, and historical milestones. Sharing insights from recent global recognitions and inspiring grassroots stories, PM Modi emphasised the transformative changes taking place across the country.

Over 64% of Indians Now Covered Under Social Protection: ILO

Highlighting India’s social welfare expansion, PM Modi said: “The International Labour Organization (ILO) has said that more than 64 percent of India's population, or about 95 crore people, are benefiting from some form of social protection scheme.”

He noted how far the nation has come since 2015: “In 2015, only 25 crore people were benefiting from social protection.”

India Declared Free of Trachoma, Says WHO

Celebrating a major public health achievement, the Prime Minister shared: “The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared India completely free from trachoma, a disease that leads to permanent blindness.”

Yoga Becoming Part of Everyone’s Life, Says PM Modi

PM Modi expressed joy over the growing global acceptance of yoga: “The whole world recently celebrated International Yoga Day, and yoga is becoming a part of everyone's lives.”

PM Modi Extends Wishes as Amarnath Yatra Resumes

Speaking about the resumption of the sacred pilgrimage, the Prime Minister said: “The Amarnath Yatra has started after a long time,” and he extended his best wishes to all pilgrims.

Women of Telangana Applauded for Millet Biscuits and Eco-Friendly Pads

Praising local entrepreneurship, PM Modi highlighted the efforts of women in the Bhadrachalam region of Telangana: “Women in the Bhadrachalam region of Telangana are making biscuits with millets and they are also being exported to London.”

He also lauded their work in producing eco-friendly sanitary products: “They are producing eco-friendly Giri sanitary pads and have made 40,000 pads in just 3 months.”

 

Remembering the Emergency and Babu Jagjivan Ram’s Legacy

Marking 50 years since the Emergency was declared in India, PM Modi urged citizens to honour those who resisted it:

“We should remember people like Babu Jagjivan Ram, who fought against the Emergency, and that it inspires us to protect the Constitution.”
