Why Two Covishield Doses Should Be Taken In 84 Days Gap? Kerala HC Questions Centre

The court made this remark when hearing a petition filed by the Kitex group of companies which said despite having vaccines, company was unable to administers its workers due to prevailing guidelines

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday asked the Centre to explain why there is a gap of 84 days for second dose of Covishield vaccine. The court also asked if it was possible to reduce the time gap if vaccines are sourced by parties.

The court made this remark when hearing a petition filed by the Kitex group of companies which pointed out that initially the time frame for taking the second dose of Covishield was 45 days.

Kitex in its plea said that it has administered first dose to their 5,000 workers but due to the prevailing guidelines they were unable to administer second dose despite the company having vaccines for their workers.

The court asked whether the time gap was extended because it had better efficacy or was it because of the problems in sourcing vaccines in time. The Centre has been asked by the court to give its affidavit on these issues and posted the case for Thursday.

Earlier the high court asked the similar question to the Kerala government to which the latter explained that they have been following the guidelines issued by the Centre.
