Kerala: 27-Day-Old Boy Dies As Mother, Irritated By His Cries, Bangs His head Against Wall

According to Ranni Inspector MR Suresh, the mother, who gave birth to the baby during her eighth-month pregnancy, confessed that she banged the head of the baby against the wall

New Delhi: Kerala police arrested a 21-year-old mother, Blessy, Michael, for killing her 27-day-old son by banging the baby's head against the wall. The mother was irritated because of the continuous crying of the baby and has thrashed the baby to death in a gruesome turn of events, said the police. The incident happened on Wednesday (December 8).

According to Ranni Inspector MR Suresh, the mother, who gave birth to the baby during her eighth-month pregnancy, confessed that she banged the head of the baby against the wall. Blessy's husband Benny works as a home nurse with a charitable trust.

After this incident, the baby was rushed to the hospital and there he was declared dead as the toddler suffered injuries on the back of the head. "The baby was taken to the Ranni Taluk Hospital on the night of December 8. The postmortem was done at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital and the report said the injuries on the back of the head led to the baby’s death," said Suresh as quoted by The New Indian Express.

After hitting the baby's head against the wall, he stopped crying. The police inspector said that in her confession Blessy said that she went to wash clothes after the baby stopped crying and on her return, she noticed that the child was not moving. She took the baby to her husband and they both took it to the hospital.
