Karnataka: Stalker Stabs Woman To Death At Home Over Rejecting Love Proposal

The accused had been coercing Anjali, blackmailing her into accompanying him to Mysuru without informing her parents.

In the early hours of Wednesday, a stalker forcefully entered a girl's residence and fatally stabbed her in Hubballi city, Karnataka. The accused had previously issued threats to the young woman, warning her of a fate similar to Neha Hiremath, who was brutally murdered on a college campus in Hubballi recently.

At approximately 5:45 am, Vishwa alias Girish Sawant, aged 23, arrived at victim Anjali Ambigera's residence in the Veerapur Oni area, under the jurisdiction of the Bendigeri police station. Upon her opening the door, he attacked her with a knife, resulting in her death, as confirmed by a senior police officer, as per a report on PTI.

The police have registered a case of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. They said that they had formed teams to nab him.

The accused had been coercing Anjali, blackmailing her into accompanying him to Mysuru without informing her parents. A preliminary police investigation uncovered that the accused had a history of involvement in theft cases and was known for being a bike thief. The tragedy unfolded in the Veerapura Oni area under the jurisdiction of the Bendigeri police station, reported IANS.

Vishwa fled from the scene and is currently evading authorities. The victim's family disclosed to the police that he had previously threatened to replicate Neha Hiremath's fate if Anjali did not reciprocate his affections.

Meanwhile, this incident has also rattled the state, echoing the recent brutal murder of MCA student Neha Hiremath by a spurned lover on a college campus in the same city.

Earlier, Neha Hiremath (23), the daughter of a Congress Councillor, was stabbed to death on a university campus by her former classmate in Hubballi. The murder led to a stir in the political circle ahead of the Lok Sabha elections last month.
