Indian Army Foils Infiltration Bid On LoC, Recovers 10 Kg IED

In an official statement, the government of India said, “Three terrorists with some weapons, war-like stores including one IED and Narco have been apprehended.”

Foiling an infiltration bid, Indian Army, in a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), apprehended three to four terrorists on the Line of Control in the Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir, said the official release. The terrorists were intercepted while trying to cross the fence, taking advantage of bad weather and heavy rains in the region. The Indian army officials fired shots at them after monitoring their movement for about 13 hours and firing from the terrorists’ side. In retaliatory firefighting, some terrorists were also left hit and wounded.

The security forces have cordoned off the region and a search operation is underway by the officials. In an official statement, the government of India said, “Three terrorists with some weapons, war-like stores including one IED and Narco have been apprehended.”

Officials have recovered around 10 kg of IED from terrorists intercepted by the Indian Army and JKP.

The official release also said, blood trails were found at the site of the fire exchange.

The government has also confirmed that so far one Indian Army soldier has been injured in the ensuing firing and has been evacuated as the search operations continue in the region.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a Pakistani intruder was nabbed by the Indian Army as he attempted to infiltrate from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on May 15. Mohammad Usman (30), a resident of Karela village of Kotli in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), was intercepted by troops after he entered Tarkundi village late Sunday evening, news agency PTI reported officials as saying on Monday.

As per PTI's report, the officials stated that nothing incriminating was recovered from the possession of the intruder, who is being questioned.

Earlier on April 29, Indian troops detained a father-son duo from PoK who had inadvertently crossed into this side in the nearby Poonch district. Both individuals were later repatriated to Pakistan through the Chakan Da Bagh border crossing point.
