'Your Jumlaveer...': Congress On BJP's 'Shameful' Remark After Manmohan Singh Attends RS In Wheelchair

A war of words has erupted between BJP and Congress on social media over former PM Manmohan Singh's presence in the Rajya Sabha in a wheelchair during discussion on the Delhi Services Bill.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday attended the crucial session of the Rajya Sabha as the House met to discuss and vote on the Delhi Services Bill. Singh was sitting in a wheelchair and the images have gone viral on social media, with leaders praising the former PM for his dedication towards democracy. However, Singh's attendance has sparked a war of words between the BJP and Congress whose leaders took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam each other.

The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) posted a photo of Manmohan Singh in wheelchair from Monday's Rajya Sabha session and said that Congress kept a former PM sitting in a wheelchair and termed it 'extremely shameful'.

"The country will remember this craziness of Congress! The Congress kept a former Prime Minister sitting in a wheel chair late night in the House even in such a state of health, that too just to keep their dishonest alliance alive! Extremely Shameful!" she tweeted.

Responding to the tweet, Congress spokesperson Surpiya Shrinate took a veiled jibe at PM Narendra Modi and said that your 'Jumlaveer' is running away from the House while Dr. Singh has shown faith in democracy.

"But vultures, try as you might. The truth is that the doctor's presence in the house exposes the cowardice of your boss. This is Dr. Sahab's faith in democracy, and one is your Jumlaveer who is running away from the House hiding his face. keep it up fellas," the party spokesperson said.

Shrinate said that BJP has sent its elders into a mental coma but 'our elders are our inspiration'

"Charanchampakon, This is Dr Sahab's dedication to democracy - this is his faith in the constitution of this country. BJP may have pushed its elders into a mental coma - our elders are our inspiration, our courage. Tell your boss to learn something - don't be a fugitive," she added in another tweet.

Earlier, the party shared Manmohan Singh's photo from the session along with an image of PM Modi. It captioned it as 'Integrity Vs Escape'.

AAP MP Raghav Chadha also praised the former PM for attending the House to vote against the 'black ordinance'.

"Today, in the Rajya Sabha, Dr. Manmohan Singh stood as a beacon of integrity and came especially to vote against the black ordinance. His unwavering commitment to democracy and the constitution is a profound inspiration. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to him for his invaluable support. Thank you, sir," he said.

Notably, the Rajya Sabha passed The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 with 131 votes in favour and 102 against it.
