Wrestlers' Protest: Big Decision Coming In Two Days, Says Sakshi Malik's Father

Reports surfaced that Sakshi has withdrawn her participation from the protest after joining the railway duty which she later denied. Bajrang Punia also denied the reports.

Wrestler Sakshi Malik’s father Sukhbir Malik on Monday denied reports of wrestlers’ protest being called off saying it's all false. On Monday, reports surfaced that Sakshi has withdrawn her participation from the protest against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh after joining the railway duty. Following the reports, Malik tweeted refuting the claims saying she was fulfilling her responsibilities in Railways simultaneously. “Our fight continues till justice is served. Please don't spread any wrong news," she said in a tweet.

"Bajrang Punia attended Mundlana Panchayat and made only one request from all khap leaders, that we pan out the movement ...and we will give a call in next one to two days after which a big decision will be taken," he said.

After Malik, Bajrang Punia also refuted the claims and called them "rumours" . Punia took to Twitter and said, "The news of withdrawing the movement is just a rumour. These news are being spread to harm us. We have neither retreated nor have we withdrawn the movement. The news of women wrestlers raising FIR is also false. The fight will continue till justice is served".

Malik on Monday also said that the protesting wrestlers met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his official residence in the national capital. She also refuted reports that claimed that the minor wrestler has taken back her complaint against the WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharma, saying "all this is fake."

"The tweets by Sakshi (Malik) and Bajrang (Punia) have been made to make it clear that they have not retreated from the protest," said Harendra Punia, brother of Bajrang Punia.

On Sunday, Olympic medal-winning grappler Bajrang Punia announced wrestlers will hold a mahapanchayat of their own soon, speaking at a gathering where former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik and Rashtriya Lok Dal Chief Jayant Chaudhary shared the stage.

Star wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik have been leading the protest against Singh at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. On Tuesday, the wrestlers had announced to immerse their medals in the river Ganga but later changed their decision.
