World Health Day: PM Modi Lauds Health Sector For 'Hardwork That Has Kept Our Planet Protected'

PM Modi said that the government of India is working tirelessly to augment India’s health infrastructure. The focus is on ensuring good quality and affordable healthcare for our citizens.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude to the health sector on the occasion of World Health Day. PM Modi took to Twitter and wished good health and wellness for everyone.

He said, "Today is also a day to express gratitude to all those associated with the health sector. It is their hardwork that has kept our planet protected."

The Prime Minister also spoke about the steps taken by the central government to improve healthcare facilities in the country. He said that the government of India is working tirelessly to augment India’s health infrastructure. The focus is on ensuring good quality and affordable healthcare for our citizens. It makes every Indian proud that our nation is home to the world’s largest healthcare scheme, Ayushman Bharat.

Talking about the benefits of heal-related schemes provided by the central government, PM Modi said, "I feel very happy when I interact with beneficiaries of schemes such as PM Jan Aushadhi. Our focus on affordable healthcare has ensured significant savings for the poor and middle class. At the same time, we are strengthening our Ayush network to further boost overall wellness."

He further tweeted about the improvement in the education system for medical students in India and initiatives taken by the central government to build new colleges and world-class infrastructure for students. The Prime Minister said, "In the last 8 years, the medical education sector has undergone rapid transformations. Several new medical colleges have come up. Our Government’s efforts to enable the study of medicine in local languages will give wings to the aspirations of countless youngsters."

Meanwhile, Ayush Ministry is holding a grand event 'Yoga Utsav' at Red Fort on the occasion of World Health Day and Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, Chief Guest of the program attended the program on Thursday morning.  

Besides being World Health Day, Thursday is also the 75th day of the countdown to International Day of Yoga (IDY). The ministry has chalked out a 100-day countdown programme for the 8th International Day of Yoga wherein 100 organisations are promoting yoga in 100 places.

The Ayush Ministry is the nodal body for observation of the International Day of Yoga. Every year, the main event of IDY observation is a mass yoga demonstration led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to the statement, the ministry hopes to inspire a 'Mass Movement for Health and Wellbeing' through yoga in the 75-day countdown to International Day of Yoga-2022.

As the upcoming 8th International Day of Yoga is falling in Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav year, the ministry proposes to observe International Day of Yoga at 75 iconic sites across the country.
