With 1 Fresh Case, Kerala's Omicron Tally Reaches 38. Night Curfew Announced In Assam
Kerala has reported 2,404 new cases, 11 deaths, and 3,377 recoveries. There are 24,501 Covid active cases in the state, while the death tally stands at 46,318.
New Delhi: Kerala on Saturday reported one more case of the Covid-19 Omicron variant, taking the overall tally of this variant to 38, Health Minister Veena George said.
Kerala has reported 2,404 new cases, 11 deaths, and 3,377 recoveries. There are 24,501 Covid active cases in the state, while the death tally stands at 46,318.
The Kerala government in an official statement said that 104 deaths were added to the death tally as per the Central government’s new guidelines.
Meanwhile, the Assam government has announced night curfew beginning Sunday across the state in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases.
The night curfew to be in force from 11.30 p.m. to 6 a.m. will, however, not be applicable on December 31, ANI reported.
All work places, business/commercial establishments, dine in restaurants/hotels/dhabas and other eateries, take away of food items from restaurants/dhabas and other eateries, opening of sale counters, showrooms etc. of cold storages and warehouses, shops dealing with groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths will open up to 10: 30 p.m.
The jurisdictional DDMAs shall fix the limit of gatherings, regarding open spaces for meetings/gathering, depending on the Covid situation in their respective districts.
The directive issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), for Omicron specific regulation, states all District Magistrates, Superintendent of Police and other authorities concerned shall be responsible for ensuring Covid Appropriate Behaviour in all public places for containment of the virus.
The directive also states that any person not wearing mask or spitting in public places shall be fined to the tune of Rs 1,000.
