Will Make Arvind Kejriwal PM In 2024: Harjot Singh Bains After Joining Punjab Cabinet

Bains, who won the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections from Shri Anandpur Sahib constituency, said it is a “great responsibility”.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Harjot Singh Bains, who on Saturday took oath as a minister in Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government, vowed to work for development of Punjab and make party national convener Arvind Kejriwal the country’s Prime Minister in 2024.

Bains, who won the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections from Shri Anandpur Sahib constituency, said it is a “great responsibility”.

“Arvind Kejriwal brought back the trust of youth in politics. We have to again make a Punjab of Maharaja Ranjit Singh,” said Bains, ANI reported.

“We will make a Punjab model and in 2024 Arvind Kejriwal the PM of the country,” he added.

Ajnala MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal too echoed similar sentiments and said that they would work for the people of Punjab “sincerely”.

“I come from an under-developed region of the state and my priority would be to work for education and health,” said Dhaliwal after taking oath as Punjab minister.

Bram Shanker Jimpa, the AAP MLA from Hoshiarpur constituency, said there will be a lot of changes in Punjab in the days to come.

“There are lots of issues, health services are very poor, we will work for improvement. We have got a decrepit Punjab, it will take some time but a change will surely come,” he said.

Barnala MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, who also joined Bhagwant Mann-led cabinet, expressing his gratitude to the party leaders said it is a “big responsibility”.

“I will fulfil it with honesty. The people have brought us because they were annoyed by a corrupt system in Punjab. We will have to uproot corruption,” he added.

Dirba MLA Harpal Singh Cheema called himself a “public servant”.

“I was a servant of the public earlier and even now I m a servant. Common people like us who might have not even thought of becoming a minister have become ministers. We will fulfil all the promises,” he said after taking oath.

Dental surgeon-turned-politician Dr Vijay Singla, who also took oath in the Punjab Cabinet, said there are various issues of drug addiction and unemployment that are yet to be solved.

“We will have to work on all these issues. We will be requiring opposition's support if we have to progress in Punjab,” he added.

Earlier in the day, 10 ministers of the new AAP government in Punjab were sworn.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at Punjab’s Raj Bhawan.
