Who Will Be Uttarakhand CM? BJP's Overnight Meeting At PM Modi's Residence

BJP is in a fix for whom should be chosen to be the new CM as former CM Pushkar Singh Dhami lost the election from the Khatima constituency.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party held a meeting over government formation and to elect the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand at Prime Minister’s residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, on Monday. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP National head JP Nadda, and BJP election-in-charge Pralhad Joshi extended till late last night.

The meeting went on till late Monday night as the party has to form a government in Uttarakhand where it has won 47 seats out of 70. The majority mark for the formation of the government in the state is 36.

However, BJP is in a fix for whom should be chosen to be the new CM as former CM Pushkar Singh Dhami lost the election from the Khatima constituency. Dhami lost to Congress’s Bhuwan Chand Kapri by over 6,000 votes.

In the same regard, Dhami and state BJP head Madan Kaushik have been called to Delhi today.

Dhami left for Delhi at 9 am this morning and is expected to reach Uttarakhand house at 10:30 am. There, he will discuss the political situation of Uttarakhand with senior party leaders.

There are also chances of him meeting BJP national head JP Nadda, General secretary BL Santosh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Meenakshi Lekhi.

BJP is the first party to have a continuous second term and return to power in Uttarkhand since the formation of the state. In the recently concluded elections, BJP won four out of five states it contested. In UP, it won 255 out of 403 seats, 20 out of 40 in Goa, and 32 out of 60 in Manipur.
