New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar firmly denied allegations that he is considering a stint in the Rajya Sabha, calling them "baseless" and "mere speculations."
Following Kumar's March 30 statement during a casual discussion with journalists, there were rumours that his demand to attend Rajya Sabha was still unfulfilled. It shook the Bihar political scene, and rumours began to circulate that he would be appointed vice-president, news agency PTI reported.

Kumar, speaking to reporters after casting his ballot in the legislative council election, remarked, "Anything is going to be reported. I was astounded to see such stories. These are unfounded and speculative claims. "
The biannual election for the 75-member Bihar legislative council, which took place over a year late owing to the COVID-19 epidemic, was held on Monday.
In response to a question on whether the ruling NDA will field candidates in the legislative council elections, Kumar stated, "I am certain that our alliance will win all 24 legislative council seats."
He stated that the state's law and order situation is "fully under control."
"Let me tell you that crime cannot be extirpated completely from society but can be effectively brought under control through proper policing. Bihar police is doing that," he was quoted by PTI in its report.
During the just-finished budget session in Bihar, opposition lawmakers condemned the March 28 killing of JD(U) leader Deepak Mehta in Danapur.
