'Country Will Be Ruled By Constitution & SC, Not By Jantar Mantar: WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh

WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh stated that rather than the Jantar Mantar in Delhi, the country will be ruled by the law, the Constitution, and the Supreme Court.

WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said on Saturday (April 29) that the country will be ruled by the law, the Constitution, and the Supreme Court, rather than from Delhi's Jantar Mantar, where several popular wrestlers are protesting against the WRI chief, accusing him of sexually harassing female athletes at national and international events. The wrestlers' protest is gaining nationwide attention, with the athletes welcoming support from any political party that wishes to support them. Following the announcement, there has been a high-profile political presence at Jantar Mantar.

In a video shared by the news agency PTI, Bhushan Sharan Singh can be seen saying: "I was raised in Ayodhya, and my entire childhood was spent with saints," (referring to one of the Hindu saints sitting next to him). He also stated that, as 'Maharaj Ji' stated, the country will be governed by the Constitution and the Supreme Court of the country, not from Delhi's Jantar Mantar."

Earlier in the day, the WFI chief stated that he is open to "any kind of investigation," but that resigning would imply that he has accepted the charges against him.

"I am completely innocent and have complete trust in the Supreme Court and the Delhi Police." "I am prepared to face any kind of investigation," Singh told reporters at his home in Bishnoharpur, about 40 kilometres from Gonda. "Resigning as the president of the Wrestling Federation of India is not a big deal for me, but I will not resign as a criminal," he added further.

Since April 23, several wrestlers have resumed their agitation and sat on a dharna, demanding that an FIR be filed against the "Gonda strongman." They also demand that Singh be removed from all positions he currently holds. The Congress has ordered that he be arrested immediately.

The Delhi Police filed two FIRs against Singh on Friday night. While the first FIR was filed under the POCSO Act in response to allegations against a minor wrestler, the second was filed in response to outraging modesty.
