New Delhi: Delhi is likely to get respite from the searing heat which has been troubling the national capital for the past month with temperatures touching 45 degrees Celsius in some regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued a yellow alert, warning of a dust storm or thunderstorm with winds gusting up to 50 kilometers per hour in the national capital today. There is also a possibility of light rains in parts of the city.

According to the IMD, the maximum temperature at the Safdarjung Observatory is likely to settle at 38 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, the minimum temperature was recorded at 28.8 degrees Celsius which was four notches above normal for this time of the year.

As per the IMD forecast, the western disturbances affecting Northwest India will cause a partly cloudy sky in the city for the next three days. While a rise in temperature by four to five notches is expected over the next few days, a heatwave is not predicted though.
